I could not rave about this organization and the ladies who created it enough. My passion is promoting other people's passions and that’s exactly what this collective does! Covering this event was so important to me. On my way to Missoula, I was listening to some podcasts, jamming out to my hype playlist, and really trying to think about what I wanted to accomplish. I was stoked to be able to attend in the first place, but I wanted to make the most of my time there by taking really intentional photos. I knew it was going to be more than just experiencing the space. I wanted to capture the energy, excitement, and opportunities this was bringing to small business owners and shoppers who were directly investing in people's livelihoods. Being able to see the Missoula makers collective grow and develop has been incredible. It’s the easiest thing in the world to talk about how driven these ladies are and how great it is that they're doing what they are, but the reason I can’t shut up about it really is because nobody succeeds in anything without the support of other people. These gals and this network being built are what is going to enable people to literally chase their dreams. That is monumental. A support network of this magnitude is irreplaceable and it is such a resource for people. A huge part of both my life and business philosophy is paying it forward and just letting gratitude kind of run the show. This is all due to the support and opportunities I’ve had, as well as the people who have encouraged me and made me feel capable.
Anyhow, I started the day with four shots of espresso in a 16-ounce latte. Ended up getting a second one a few hours later because the drive is long, but on top of the hype, the espresso made me quite jittery. I was both nervous and excited. Showing up an hour early allowed me to snap a few photos of Rachel and Bailey and talk about what kind of shots they were hoping for. It really didn't take long before the place had a decent crowd. A short while later, Missoula sure as heck showed up! It was jam-packed and items were flying off the shelves. About an hour in I realized I had to take a second to snag some of the goods I had my eye on before there wasn't anything left! I was even able to meet Nora with Rooted Ceramics, and Kara with New Old Friend, both of whom I've admired for so long. I was fangirling a bit. They were both so sweet and equally as excited to be there. I was buzzing around pretty well for the rest of the night. Got a mango boba tea. Connected with some other amazing people. Life was good. I certainly learned a lot about continuous shooting and capturing small joys in shared spaces. I was a little tired after the five-hour drive home. Even more so I was grateful, and still on cloud 9. Anymore I actually love it when I'm exhausted because it means my energy was spent doing something I absolutely adore, which fires me right back up. I am beyond thankful for the memories and moments I have from this night and the people I shared them with.
